The Bachelorette Week 5 Recap

As we all know, Clare Crawley fell in love in with Dale Moss the first episode and bounced… and now we have a new bachelorette, Tayshia Adams! After a whirlwind first 4 weeks, I’m hoping the remaining episodes go a little smoother, well, as smooth as any season in Bachelor Nation.

A little background on our new Bachelorette, Tayshia. Bachelor Nation first met Tayshia on season 23 of The Bachelor, she was one of the final two contestants on Colton’s season when he decided he wanted to pursue a girl he previously sent home. Which, in my opinion, would say she dodged a bullet in that situation. Then we saw her again on season six of Bachelor in Paradise. It was there when we saw her relationship with John Paul Jones, better known as JPJ. That relationship ended in late 2019 after what appears to have been a rollercoaster of a relationship. After all that I’m personally ecstatic to see her get this new shot at love.

Not that this time us going to be easy… Tayshia walked into the mess of a season Clare left behind. 16 men eagerly awaited the arrival of the new Bachelorette. Then we got another surprise from Chris Harrison in the middle of the cocktail party, a limo with a new batch of guys. Four new guys to be exact. The room was tense as the 16 men that Clare left felt threatened by the new group.

Throughout the night Tayshia talked and got to know the guys. Before ending the cocktail party, she gave the first impression rose to one of the new arrivals, Spencer. That ruffled the feathers of the original contestants. Typically the first night ends with a rose ceremony, but instead she decided to skip the ceremony, and keep all 20 guys around to get to know them more.

45 minutes into this episode with our wonderful bachelorette, Tayshia, Chris Harrison steps in to bring us an interview with Clare and Dale. Chris confronts Clare and ask the question all of Bachelor Nation is wondering; If her and Dale had any communication before actually meeting face to face during the limo introduction. She denies any previous conversation but did say she was paying attention to what the guys were posting. Things got a little awkward when Chris asked what was next… Clare said whatever comes next, babies or a wedding and Dale seemed pretty adamant on the wedding being first. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in their happily ever after. Now back to Tayshia.

The first event with Tayshia in charge gave us ‘splash ball’ or ‘pool basketball’, including tiny speedos for the men involved. The winning team gets to spend time with the bachelorette that night, the other team doesn’t, simple as that. Blue team ended up winning a BBQ and date night with Tayshia. The green team doesn’t go home empty handed, they do get to join the after party and hopefully get opportunities to talk to her.

Brendan gets the first one on one with Tayshia! On their date Brendan wanted to be honest about his divorce, and little did he know Tayshia was also married before at a young age. They were able to connect on a deeper level. The date started with horses and ended with fireworks, not only between the two of them, but actual fireworks.

I personally cannot wait to see what the rest of the season pans out. Not only does it seem like the fans are relieved, but it also feels like the guys were relieved to get this fresh start. The preview for next week’s episode sure looks wild, if I’m being honest.
