Pujols Officially Joins the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers announced on Monday that they officially signed Albert Pujols to a one year deal. This signing happened after the Angels DFA’d Pujols on May 6th.

The 41-year-old has had a 21-year-career with 10 All-Star game appearances and six Silver Slugger awards. Pujols hold the title for the most home runs for any active player at 667 home runs. With just these three stats alone I don’t get how any Dodger fan can be upset with this signing.

After 10 years with the Angels, Albert joins the World Champion, Los Angeles Dodgers and gets to stay in Sunny SoCal. Making his debut with the Dodgers at 1st base on Monday when they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Let’s hope he not only contributes on the field, but also off the field by being a positive influence in the clubhouse.

This signing also comes just in time since Corey Seager left Saturday’s game with a fractured right hand. With the addition of Pujols, Roberts is able to shuffle the infield players around and make up for the players the Dodgers currently have on the IL.

During the press conference on Monday Pujols mentions that he wants to help the Dodgers repeat and win another championship in 2021. He sees the potential that this Dodgers team has to go all the way this year. He sounded grateful to have an opportunity to play again and play on this Dodgers team. Overall, I’m personally excited to see how Albert will contribute to this Dodgers team. I’m sure he will make a lasting impression on the young players on and off the field. Plus, everyone looks good in Dodger Blue.
